Southampton Register Office Wedding Photography

On Saturday I was the wedding photographer for Aggie and Dan at the Southampton Register Office. Afterwards they went to the Juniper Berry pub for the wedding breakfast and evening party. It was great to offer my services for Southampton Register Office wedding photography. It’s a really nice registry office with vaulted ceilings and a little garden outside for group photographs.

The Couple

Aggie and Dan had met while working as biomedical scientists. They are also preparing for the adventure of their lives shortly after getting married. They are heading off to emigrate to New Zealand together and their wedding was not only a celebration of their love, but also a chance to say farewell to all of their family and friends. I met Aggie in the Juniper Berry pub where she was getting ready upstairs, and darted around between the rooms to capture bride and bridesmaids Mei, Anna and Kasia. It was also a good chance for me to take pictures of the venue and all of the decorations before it was full of people!

I then walked down the road to the Duke of Wellington pub where groom Dan was receiving sage advice from his best men, Russ, Steve and Alex.

The Ceremony

Aggie arrived at the Register Office in good time. She almost took me by surprise as she pulled up – I was expecting the bridal party to be fashionably late! Aggie looked amazing in a dress by Maggie Sottero. The ceremony was emotional with lots of tears ; mostly from Dan the groom. A suited and booted little pageboy did a sterling job of handing over the rings.

Afterwards, we all walked up together back to the Juniper Berry. I loved taking pictures of Aggie and Dan with their friends and family strolling casually up the road. Lots of passerbys stopped to look and say their congratulations too – who doesn’t love a bride and groom?

The Reception

We had a delicious BBQ meal provided by the Hog Shack. It was very kind of the couple to include me in the meal plan and I enjoyed sitting down and benefiting from a tasty hot meal! The speeches were warm and extremely heartfelt. There were tissues being used by many people in the room!

After the meal, I went for a quiet walk with Aggie and Dan down to the city walls. We really enjoyed taking some pictures just of the bride and groom together. Aggie and Dan were both very game and tried different things for the photographs. They made my job very easy! I loved how the walls of the old city are right next to the new, shiny West Quays shopping centre. Old and New in the same photograph.

Back to the reception venue we went. It was time for the first dance. Dan’s brother Steve serenaded the couple with a cover of Ed Sheeran performed with the band. Then the band, Dr Vegas, started to get the party started and soon the dance floor was packed!

Thank you so much for booking me. I had a great time. I hope everyone enjoys these photographs 🙂
